Volunteers

We're lucky to have a top notch team of local folks who serve as our volunteer Travel Counselors at our Welcome Center in Logan, as well as our Visitor Center in Laurelville. Many visitors to our beautiful area who interact with our volunteers are curious to know a little more about them, and, hey, we'd like to brag on them a little bit!

Nancy: "I'm from the Toledo area and started volunteering here with my husband, Tom. I enjoy travel photography and participate in butterfly counting for the Ohio Lepidopterists. I love the hills, woods, parks, trails, wildlife and flowers and hope this area stays this way for many years to come."

Bobbi: "Nature, arts and gardening are my passions, along with community service. My husband's gardens turned into an annual art show known as LilyFest. It keeps me very busy, plus all the local activities. I love talking with visitors at the Welcome Center. Their questions have helped me learn even more about the treasures of this beautiful area."

JoAnne: I like staying busy! When not housekeeping for the Hocking Hills State Park, I enjoy writing, painting, sewing, spending time with my seven grandchildren, and attending church services. Hocking Hills is a great, beautiful place to live in - its peaceful & historic setting is quaint and relaxing.

Jerry S.: "My wife, Carolyn, is a Logan native and I moved here 2 years ago from Newark. I own Lucky Levi's Leather and enjoy our animals, which include chickens, ducks, rabbits, a dog and a mini-horse. Helping at the Welcome Center seemed a good way to learn more about Hocking Co. and our members."

Donna: "I'm a retired nurse, and after moving to the Hocking Hills I got interested in tourism and became a volunteer. I spend my spare time painting on recycled small tables & old slate. Traveling is an important part of my life, with tennis and hiking a close second. This is a most beautiful place to live."

Linda: "My husband came into the area as a boy involved with the Big Brothers Association. Some 40 years later we were living in this beautiful area. Knowing no one, I started volunteering at our Welcome Center. I've met many beautiful people and formed lasting friendships. We move about in our travels but always come 'home'."

Lisa: "I love spending time with family, working in my flower beds & gardening, hiking and visiting new places. I'm a private caregiver and love my job, and also like to ride my motorcycle in the summer. At the Welcome Center, I love hearing where everyone is from and what their plans are in this area. I've learned a lot myself, even though I've lived here all my life! And getting to know the co-workers here is great, too."
