Washboard Music Festival & Lilyfest

Worlds only festivals to celebrate washboard music & lilies offer unique FREE entertainment
Logan, Ohio A one-of-a-kind celebration of Americas Appalachian culture and heritage takes place during the Washboard Music Festival, June 18-20, 2009, in southeast Ohios spectacular Hocking Hills. Festival hours have been extended on Friday and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. both days. Held in downtown Logan, Ohio, this one-of-a-kind free festival features ongoing live music, parades, rides and a sample of local cuisine.
More than a dozen washboard and related bands will offer an incredible entertainment lineup this year, including Fiddlers 3, Robin Lacy and DeZydeco and Sadie Green Sales Jugband. Local artists will also display and sell a wide variety of folk and fine art, crafts and washboard-inspired instruments. The popular Washer Women will be on hand to demonstrate how washboards are used for laundry.
Families will enjoy Childrens Fair, a unique kid-friendly area, featuring amusement rides, face painting, petting zoo and a train that circles the festival. Saturday festivities include a parade at 5 p.m. and a morning lineup of antique tractors and hit & miss engines. Another major highlight of the festival is the free tours of the 110-year old Columbus Washboard Company, the only washboard factory in the United States still producing washboards on a daily basis. Here, visitors will see the Worlds Largest Washboard. Free tours of the factory are offered year round.
Another lovely, one-of-a-kind summer festival will takes place July . Lilyfest pays homage the natural beauty of daylilies, as well as water lilies, Asiatic lilies, hostas and other popular garden plants. This annual three-day celebration of gardening, music and artistry takes place in mid-July on a private estate in Hocking County. Visitors can wander three gorgeous acres of landscaped gardens, where theyll discover a stunning array of daylily varieties, hostas, perennials, annuals and more, all tucked neatly into the woods.
Master gardeners will be on hand to offer expertise and festival goers will have the opportunity to purchase plants at great prices. More than 70 fine artists display and sell original works including, garden sculpture, blown glass, jewelry, wood carving and more. A variety of musicians will be on-hand to perform all three days of Lilyfest, with special emphasis on Appalachian music styles.
